Confidence is key, but not
bravado or over compensation. The difference is that true
self-improving confidence is a matter of have faith that the
faults about us are part of who we are but not who we
are. The fact is that this faith has the power to make these
self-proclaimed faults endearing to others if we continue to
be happy and confident with ourselves.
Confidence is achieved by balancing a happy medium between
hiding our fears or faults and wallowing in our fears and
faults.
The fist step to achieving
this happy medium….is No Fear.
Fear keeps us from
experiencing our dreams, keeps us from pursuing love, and
keeps us from being who we are on the purest level. There is
simply no need for fear! Discretion….yes. There is a need for
thoughtful awareness, but discretion is smart and fear is just
plain stupid!
Granted, the impulse of fear
will happen, but it is possible and it is time to take control
of your fear. Fear is more specifically the fear of the
unknown or unfamiliar, which once you know about or are
familiar with whatever it is, it is never as scary. Do
yourself a favor and branch-out! Eat different things! See
different movies! Go different places! If you do this all with
an open mind and No Fear…you’ll actually get to know what you
really like and don’t like, instead of simply settling for
what you’re used to. Settling Sucks…don’t start!
Next is having and
conveying faith in yourself. If you know what you’re
talking about but phrase it in a limp unsure way, people will
assume that there is a strong possibility that you are wrong
or unsure. The opposite is also true. You have control over
how much faith people put in you by letting them feel your
faith in yourself. If you are overcompensating though, people
can smell that on you like a dead fish. So believe in
yourself, but don’t sabotage it by being retroactively humble
or hyperactively cocky.
Here are some easy things you
can start doing right now to get you moving in that direction:
Smile- it is a natural brace
against the toughest critic( usually yourself) and paints
you as happy and wise, as oppose to scared and sullen.
